Pantry
Add items, track freshness, and keep inventory accurate.
The Pantry is your shared source of truth for what your household has on hand. Keeping it current makes recipe planning faster, reduces duplicate purchases, and helps cut food waste.
What you can do here
- Add items manually, by barcode scan, or by searching products
- Track item status (
in stock, low, depleted, finished) - Set expiration dates so you can use ingredients before they go bad
- Review pantry history to see what changed and who changed it
How to use it well
1. Add items with enough detail
When adding food, include quantity, unit, and expiration date when available. The more complete the item data, the better your recommendations and grocery list suggestions.
2. Update status as you cook
- Mark items as low when they are close to running out
- Mark items as finished when fully used
- Adjust quantities after cooking or restocking
3. Watch expiring items weekly
Use expiration alerts to prioritize meals and avoid waste. Items expiring soon are great candidates for your next grocery list meal plan.
4. Use pantry history for accountability
If something looks off, check pantry history to understand what changed and by whom.
Why this matters
Good pantry data powers the rest of Kitchen:
- Recipes: quickly see what you can already make
- Grocery Lists: auto-add missing ingredients from planned meals
- Household collaboration: everyone sees the same current inventory
